This free resource is a GREAT way for you to check-in with your students to see how they are doing/feeling. This can be done secret style, where the students’ peers do not know they’ve written this check-in letter to you, or out in the open on a mental health board where any student can grab a check-in at any time. I put this freebie together in a few different ways, horizontal/vertical full page or horizontal/vertical half page. I like to use the half-page sheets in my class but it is up to you. I also included a version that includes zones of regulation and students identifying what zone they are in. There are two ways the students can write their mental health check-in letter:
1. Handwritten Letters (printable format): Students can write on the printable sheet and hand it to you.
2. Typed Letters (digital format): Teachers can post the digital template on google classroom, students can make a copy of the template, fill it in, then email it to their teacher. This is great for distance learning when teachers are not in the same room as their students.
Who can use this check-in:
This resource can be easily adapted for students of different ages and abilities and works well for elementary and junior high students in grades 3-8.
